Established in 1900 in Roseville Ohio, Robinson-Ransbottom was highly regarded for its quality Stoneware and pottery, becoming one of the largest producers of stoneware in the U.S. Their Zephyrus design, produced around 1946-7, depicts a bas-relief of Zephyrus, the Greek God of the west wind, blowing a Viking ship under full sail. Zephyrus was associated with gentle winds and the arrival of spring, symbolizing favorable winds for sailors.
